Sider Engineering S.p.A. is located within the territory of the Udine industrial zone (Z.I.U.). In total, the uncovered area is 150,000 m2, while the covered area extends over 30,000 m2.
The production buildings are equipped with bridge cranes capable of handling up to 50 tons and are divided into different departments, specifically, the mechanical division which takes care of the construction of the mechanical equipment and assembly and supervision services at the installation site and the electrical division specialising in the design, construction and setting up of electrical and electronic equipment.
The mechanical workshops are equipped with a wide range of machine tools, all of modern design.
Although Sider Engineering S.p.A. was founded only in 2004, its story began a long time before that. In 1974, after long experience with Danieli & C. of Buttrio, the owner and key figure, Ennio Fattori, wanted to strike out on his own and the new business, initially focused exclusively on the supply of services, especially maintenance and installation of steel plants, was soon supplying machines and equipment for hot steel manufacturing. In the initial phase of this development, the machines supplied were almost all second hand, bought by the company and restored through painstaking extraordinary maintenance work and adaptation to the needs of the new service they were required to perform. The key market was often developing countries that could not afford the significant investments and so preferred, at least in the early stages, not to resort to the manufacturers of new equipment. Over the years, supplies have been upgraded with greater technological content enabling in-house design and construction from new. In recent years, remarkable achievements have been attained in terms of the variety of plant engineering types, the size of the installations and added technological value.
It is remarkable that these goals were reached by supplying machinery of simple design and at low prices, all to the benefit of the customer in terms of reasonable charges for maintenance and reasonable initial investment costs.
Today, Sider Engineering S.p.A. is seen on the global market as a solid company, both from the structural and financial points of view, and possesses great experience that enables it to design, construct and set up a wide range of machinery and equipment for the steel industry, mainly in the field of smelting steel in electrical ovens, continuous casting and hot rolling of long products.
